November @ GPL

November’s chill is in the air, and the trees are turning brilliant shades of red and yellow. A perfect time to curl up with a good book (or two).

This month’s virtual book club selection is Daphne Du Maurier’s classic Rebecca. This eerie, romantic mystery was published in 1939 and has never been out of print. It’s a great read, starting with the first iconic line, “Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again…” Pick up your copy at the library (or use the Libby app and get the ebook).

We’re recognizing Native American Heritage Month with a special book display.

Books about Thanksgiving are also in a special display.

GPL is delighted to announce that we are the recipient of the American Library Association’s Libraries Transforming Communities Grant for the second time. As part of the grant requirements, we will host a community conversation in early 2022 about the growth in our community. Funds from the grant will be used to expand our collection of children’s and adult’s materials, update our social media programs and virtual meeting software, and marketing materials. We are grateful to the American Library Association for this opportunity.

The library is expanding its hours. Starting November 8, the library will be open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, and Fridays & Holiday Eves from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Hours will be expanded again in December.

The library has new patron computers! Funding was provided by the Arkansas State Library with American Rescue Plan Act funds through the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Children’s scarecrow crafts can be picked up inside the library or curbside, or use one of our library tables to put the craft together.

The library will be closed Thursday, November 25th through Sunday,

November 28th   in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
