Gentry Public Library Association
What is GPLA?
The Library is owned and maintained by the city, but all literature, computers, and programs must be funded by an outside source. We are one of only three counties in the state of Arkansas without a library tax to guarantee funds.
Gentry Public Library Association is a group of volunteers that work to raise these vital funds for the library.
If you are interested in volunteering, please call or visit the front desk.

This time last year, the Library Association held a very successful Library Gala to raise funds for ongoing programs. We have welcomed a wonderful new librarian and two talented assistants who work hard to obtain grants and create programs and activities for all ages that will involve the entire community. We are also fortunate to have great volunteers who are dedicated to the success of our library. Below are a few of the projects that last year’s gala fundraiser provided:
500+ children, juvenile, young adult, and adult books and DVDs purchased
Overdrive E-books subscription (2600+ checkouts year-to-date)
8-week Summer Reading Program attended by more than 25 children each week
Monthly crafting programs for children and adults
Lighting for first floor bookcases
Our most pressing needs for 2020 are increasing our ability to assist our patrons. We hope to:
Expand our front desk to three workstations and upgrade our computers
Expand our children’s area and create separate kids and adult computer areas
More than 10,000 people have visited our library in 2019, checking out more than 7,000 items, and using our computers 3,000+ times. These upgrades will help us continue making the library a vibrant, creative, and educational community hub.
Suffice it to say, donations are being put to good use. As you plan your end-of-year giving, please consider our local library when you decide on your charitable donations for 2019. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
